This pretty apartment with a terrace and a view of Lisbon is located near the Avenida da Liberdade, Lisbon’s longest road. The Lisbon poet, Fernando Pessoa, called it the city’s prettiest street. Considered to be one of Lisbon’s most famous avenues, it is lined with plane trees, palm trees and other trees, adorned with statues, and dotted with flower beds.
Starting from the Marques Plombal Square and joining the Restauradores Square, the rectilinear route is framed by underrated neighborhoods. It is a nice place to walk and discover gardens, churches, and new viewpoints.
The upper part of the avenue offers a global view of the heart of the city with its plane trees and its gardens. Starting the climb down, the up-scale shops are linked to the ladies’ delight.
At the center of the avenue you will find the Tivoli Theater. This beautiful, neoclassical building blends in nicely with the avenue’s landscape. Today the theater offers a variety of shows with successful plays and even an occasional concert. We can also find many bars and restaurants on this avenue.
If you would like to enjoy a place lost in time, you must visit Lisbon’s Botanical Garden. With an area of 40 hectares, the garden was inaugurated in 1878. Recognized for its subtropical flora, it is partnered with the University of Lisbon’s Faculty of Science.
The lower part of the avenue brings you to the Restauradores Square: a place that is home to many architectural quirks, including some buildings inspired by the Palace of Versailles.
Considered to be the 35th most expensive avenue in the world, the Avenida da Liberdade is filled with local, but refined culinary delights.
The meals created by Chef Marlene Vieira represent Northern and Southern Portugal as well as the countryside and the seaside. They come from every region of the country and the look of the dishes possesses a unique touch that reflects Portuguese gastronomy.
The Cervejaria Liberdade restaurant serves the best fish and seafood from the Portuguese coast.
Barnacles from the Berlengas Archipelago, shrimp from the Algarve Coast, mini lobsters from Cascais, and oysters from Aveiro are some of their flagship dishes. The traditional pica-pau, fried pork, the timeless prego sandwich, Mirandesa steak, classic steak tartare, and an incredible selection of pastries complete the menu.
Surrounding the Avenue, we invite you to stroll in the Alegria Square. It is filled with small restaurants and picturesque boutiques.
For amateurs, you will find the Hot Club of Portugal: it’s the oldest jazz club in Portugal. A moment of vibration in this place recognized as one of the best in the world.
